Hi! Hope you’re doing well… I feel like I’ve been listening to a lot of old music and am just now finding some new stuff—here are some songs that I love right now:
Made your bed (Celia) | Apple Music
I don’t know much about the Chinese government but I do know that I found this song on TikTok before it came out and physically went into my calendar to write in the release date that was over a month away, so what does Joe Biden have to say about that? It’s hauntingly sad in the best way (me) and the chorus lyrics I think are just so good. Celia is still relatively unknown so you can gatekeep her from your friends, hooray
Miss Me Too (Griff) | Apple Music
I only knew one Griff song up until I went to her concert in LA last month and I am so embarrassed by that, so don’t be like me—this is her newest song and it’s perfect for a dramatic little walk through the park. The music video is very good as well, I am loving artists dancing in their videos again. Other great songs of hers that I now appreciate include Into The Walls and Walk (which will undoubtedly be in my Spotify top songs next year).
Pass Time (Kendall Robbins) | Apple Music
As long as we are owning up to our embarrassing moments I will tell you that I occasionally listen to the Mel Robbins self-help podcast blah blah blah. She mentioned that her daughter went to USC and just released her first song ever so I went to check it out… and it sounded like an R&B smash hit? What?? Did I just discover a superstar from a self-help podcast? I guess it really did help huh
Bonus Recent Concerts:
I saw The Beaches at Music Hall of Williamsburg the other week as well as Sid Sriram at the same venue later in the week and they were both great in their own ways; the sound quality at that venue is kind of a hit or miss depending on the engineer in my super humble opinion. The Beaches had a fun stage presence and kept the audience engaged throughout (although the guitarist’s ex girlfriend and her entire family came wearing matching t-shirts and it was giving Jojo Siwa energy unfortunately). Sid honestly came on like 30 minutes late (probably an hour after the opener ended) and the crowd was uneasy by that point, but considering how good he is live I guess he kind of pulled that off. Edge of the Earth by The Beaches is my favorite of theirs right now and my favorite Sid song is currently The Hard Way.
It’s only Tuesday!! God
Bye I miss you,
Lydia
Again, all the songs exist on this Spotify playlist if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
